Family Archive

Leonhard Mõtsmees — Song of Two Generations

The solo project originated from the discovery that the artist's great-grandfather, Leonhard Mõtsmees, had recorded 36 songs of the student corporation Revelia in 1989. From these recordings, Susanna heard her great-grandfather's voice for the first time.

As she delved deeper into her family roots, the song diaries of the artist's great-grandmother, Ella Voltein, also came to light. These two treasures, invaluable to a folk musician, sparked the desire to create solo music, through which she could continue singing the songs inherited from her ancestors.
